The location at 3384 Government St., will be owned and operated by Ballard Brands, the privately held hospitality and foodservice company that owns PJ's Coffee. While Ballard owns a handful of company-operated locations in Louisiana, most PJ's Coffee stores in the state are independently owned and operated by franchisees.

The CVS closed in 2023 as part of the company's national restructuring plan, which eliminated approximately 900 underperforming stores between 2022 and 2024. Developer Clark Heebe purchased the 1.76-acre, 11,224-square-foot property for $1.95 million in late 2024, converted the building into six retail spaces and retained Maestri-Murrell Real Estate to lease the center.

The Baton Rouge opening is not PJ's first move into a renovated retail space. In May,the company announced plans to open in fall 2026 at 7700 Maple St., in New Orleans at a former Starbucks location that is undergoing renovation.

Based in Mandeville, Louisiana, PJ's Coffee operates more than 185 locations, including four international stores.
