Swighas signed a 10-unit franchise agreement with father-and-son operators Alex and Alan Knox to bring the dirty soda concept to Colorado, continuing the company's national expansion efforts. The first location is scheduled to open in El Paso County by the end of 2026. The announcement follows Swig's recent expansion into South Florida.

Swig, which describes itself as the creator of the dirty soda category, said consumer demand for beverage customization, innovation and convenience continues to drive growth within the segment. The Lehi, Utah company's franchise model centers on drive-thru operations and can function in spaces as small as 800 to 850 square feet. Swig said the format eliminates the need for extensive kitchen infrastructure, allowing operators to streamline labor, reduce build-out costs and scale across multiple locations.

Swig said it is seeking additional qualified multi-unit franchise operators as it expands nationally.

Alex Knox began his restaurant industry career shortly after college and has experience in restaurant operations and franchising, while Alan Knox has worked in restaurant and corporate leadership roles.

"As we grow into new markets, we're focused on building a brand that's as much about the guest experience as it is about the product," Swig CEO Alex Dunn said in a press release. "Alex and Alan share that vision, and we're confident they'll create a strong connection with the Colorado Springs community from day one."

Swig operates more than 150 locations across 16 states.
