Shipley Donuts celebrates 90th birthday with LTOs, franchise growth

Houston-based Shipley Donuts is celebrating its 90th birthday with limited-time menu items and special offers through Oct. 18.

The celebration includes the Birthday Bullseye, a Shipley donut filled with colorful sprinkles and topped with strawberry icing and additional sprinkles. Other offerings include the limited-time 1936 Shipley Favorites Box, pairing a donut with any kolache starting at $4 and 90-cent glazed donuts.

The brand also will offer bonus loyalty points on every purchase from Sept. 18 through Oct. 18.

Along with its birthday celebration, Shipley is expanding into markets, making its Michigan debut in Metro Detroit through a 15-unit franchise agreement with Auburn, Michigan-based Hole Lotta Dough LLC. The deal will bring Shipley to Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties, with the first location scheduled to open in late first quarter 2027. The agreement calls for three additional locations per year for the next four years.

"Hole Lotta Dough brings the local expertise and Houston-to-Detroit connections to bring Shipley to life the right way in a brand-new market," Shipley CEO Flynn Dekker said in a press release.

Shipley also recently announced plans to enter Ohio through a three-unit franchise agreement.

The company operates more than 390 franchised and company-owned restaurants across 13 states and has franchise opportunities available in the South, Southeast and Midwest for qualified operators.
