Chicken Salad Chick has deemed July 16, "National Chicken Salad Day," and will mark it with free scoops and giveaways.

"Chicken salad has always had a way of showing up where people gather, and so has Chicken Salad Chick," Scott Deviney, president and CEO of Chicken Salad Chick, said in a press release."National Chicken Salad Day gives us a chance to celebrate a dish that has connected generations and thank the guests who continue to make us part of their traditions."

On July 16, Chicken Salad Chick Rewards members may claim an offer for one free scoop of any chicken salad flavor through the restaurant's app. The offer can be redeemed for up to 30 days. Customers visiting any Chicken Salad Chick location on National Chicken Salad Day also may receive an exclusive brand sticker while supplies last. The chain also will host giveaways on Facebook and Instagram, with prizes including a year of free chicken salad.

The company said that National Chicken Salad Day is a Chicken Salad Chick-established holiday, which will take place on the third Thursday in July, going forward.

Deviney told FastCasual that the concept of a brand-owned food holiday had been on the company's radar for several years. The idea of a summertime holiday made sense because chicken salad shows up at summer potlocks, cookouts and picnics.

"Few items inspire the kind of personal loyalty and emotional connection that chicken salad does," Deviney said. "It's tied to gatherings and to family rcipies that are passed down, over time. It felt natural to create a moment that celebrates both the food and the people who enjoy it."

Chicken Salad Chick has more than 330 restaurants in 23 states and continues to expand through franchising.
