West Palm Beach, Florida-based The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is heading north, signing a master license agreement to develop the brand across Canada's Atlantic provinces.

The deal covers Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, parent company United Franchise Group announced Monday.

Under the agreement, the master licensee will lead the brand's growth in the region, building local operations and supporting future franchisees.

Both co-owners of the master license have restaurant experience. One operates a local restaurant, and the other owns a restaurant in the United Arab Emirates. UFG said the pair evaluated other Mediterranean concepts before choosing The Great Greek as their entry into food franchising.

"The addition of these two master licenses marks an exciting step in United Franchise Group's international growth," Michael White, chief development officer and director of global franchising at United Franchise Group, said in a company press release. "We look forward to working alongside our master license partners to build these brands thoughtfully and create lasting opportunities for local entrepreneurs."

The second license announced Monday takes UFG's Transworld Business Advisors, a business brokerage brand, into Turkey. UFG said it is also seeking master license partners for its brands in Spain, Poland, Czechia, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, which operates over 90 locations, is part of West Palm Beach, Fla.-based United Franchise Group, which has more than 1,800 franchises and development in more than 60 countries. UFG's other food brand is Graze Craze.
