Irvine, California-based Pokeworks opened five locations, has eight more under development and signed multiple-unit franchise agreements during the second quarter. The brand now operates 85 locations across 22 states, representing 10% year-over-year unit growth.
The expansion is being driven by existing franchise partners, who continue to sign agreements for additional locations. Pokeworks plans to grow its footprint in key markets including New York City and Long Island, New York; California; Denver; Boston and Nashville.
"With openings in new markets like the Central California Coast, we're continuing to grow thoughtfully, and we're especially proud that so much of our growth is coming from franchisees who are expanding their footprint with us," Pokeworks co-founder and Head of Development Peter Yang said in a press release. "As we move into the second half of the year, we remain focused on deepening our presence in current markets and supporting our partners every step of the way."
The company recently announced that it had sold out franchise availability in nearly every Texas major market, and is focusing its efforts on the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The poke brand also introduced the limited-time High-Protein Surf & Turf Bowl, tapping into the protein-forward trend. The bowl features ahi tuna, chicken breast with creamy avocado, surimi salad, double edamame, fresh greens and chilled ramen noodles. Each serving contains 44 grams of protein and 10 grams of fiber.
