A fundraiser hosted by Ghengis Grill in Henderson, Nev., netted $10,000 for the family of a local man who died while attempting to prevent a shooting at a Las Vegas Wal-Mart earlier this month.
Ghengis Grill partnered with the Christian Hope Project to host the fundraiser last week. The restaurant donated 100 percent of sales that day, including gift certificates, to Joseph Wilcox's family.
“This could not have been possible without the help of the Christian Hope Project and the compassion of this community. It was truly inspiring to see the flood of generosity. Everyone was so eager to show their appreciation for Mr. Wilcox and his family,” said William Rodriguez, franchise owner of the Genghis Grill in Henderson, in a press release. “We know there is nothing we can do to change the tragic course of events, but we wanted to do what we could to let the Wilcox family know they are in our thoughts and prayers during this painful time.”
