Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is streamlining the technology behind its counters, moving its franchise system onto one platform for point of sale, ordering, payments, loyalty, labor and inventory as the coffeehouse chain pushes into new states and formats.
Under the new setup, designed by PAR Technology, franchisees no longer need to set up and support separate POS, loyalty and ordering tools at each location. Front-counter sales feed directly into back-office labor and inventory data, and guests can earn and redeem rewards whether they order at the counter, in the drive-thru or on their phones.
"We knew we needed a tech provider who could grow with us and give us one unified view of our data," Tom Wylie, president of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, said in a press release. "PAR gives our franchisees a unified foundation so we can scale the brand without franchisees having to figure out the technology from scratch or manage two or three different systems just to run their store."
Founded on Hawaii's Big Island in 1989, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is owned by Royal Aloha Franchise Co. and has 48-plus U.S. franchise locations, with more than 100 additional shops in development. The menu includes Hawaiian and international coffees, blended drinks, teas and food, along with branded merchandise.
The company also plans to bring its coffee to grocery, hospitality and specialty retail channels.
