Blaze and Sodexo partner to bring brand to college campuses
The huge French food services and facilities management company, Sodexo, today announced its partnering with Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza to offer the chain's pizzas, salads, drinks and desserts to Sodexo facilities nationwide and on college campuses. It's a big step into a whole new world of organizational-based food service for the four-year-old pizza chain, which prides itself on chef-driven items and what it calls "artisanal" pizza.
According to Blaze President and COO Jim Mizes, the Sodexo/college campus connection was a natural next step.
"Blaze has been cultivating fanatics among college students since our first restaurant opened at UCI (University of California Irvine) in 2012,” said Mizes, in a news release about the partnership. "We're thrilled to be able to reach even more college students through our new partnership with Sodexo."
Blaze uses ingredients that are free of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, with eco-friendly packaging, according to the release. The chain has 160 restaurants in 31 states and Canada and was founded by the couple who started Wetzel's Pretzels.
This year, the research company, Technomic ,named the chain as the fast casual pizza leader in its Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report. Sodexo offers 100 services in the U.S., including food service-related activities for hospitals, colleges and governmental organizations.
