Fast Casual Summit kicks off with food tour
Industry executives gathered in Dallas on the eve of the annual conference for a tour of some top and up-and-coming fast casual restaurants.

If there was a better way to start a conference of fast casual executives than a tour of the segment's most interesting concepts, attendees of the 2009 Fast Casual Executive Summit did not know it.
Dozens of curious operatorsgathered at the Hotal Palomar in Dallas to visit several fast casual eateries throughout downtown and the Frisco and Southlake neighborhoods. Four buses, each carrying eight to 10 industry executives, traveled to several different groups of brands, including Mi Chula's Good Mexican, Mooyah Burgers and Fries, Vapiano and Cowboy Chicken.
The food tour gave executives the opportunity to experience a variety of concepts they otherwise might not have the chance to try, said Alan Hixon, president of Mooyah.
The event was the unofficial start of the Fast Casual Executive Summit, being held Sept. 14-15 at the Hotel Palomar in Dallas.
