PleatPak, which makes foodservice packaging designed for burgers and sandwiches, is now available to restaurant operators nationwide through the US Foods Direct online platform, according to a press release.

Produced by GreenDustries Corp., doing business as American Pleating Technologies, the pleated design is intended to optimize the guest experience. It serves as an alternative to conventional wraps and hard-sided clamshells by keeping food warm longer, improving portability and offering a cleaner eating experience.

The US Foods Direct platform gives its 350,000 foodservice customers direct access to purchase the packaging, which is used by leading foodservice organizations in more than 75 countries. Industry leaders have praised the product's impact on brand identity, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

"My customers love this packaging," Dave Dubois, founder and CEO of Boston-based chain Tasty Burger, said in the =release. "They endlessly write reviews, posts, tweets and videos; they ask for wrappers to take home with them. No other packaging has ever had such a profound effect on our guests."

Dubois noted the product's functional benefits, including its unique spherical design that forms around the food.

"Nothing holds heat without getting soggy better," Dubois said. "This is because of the built-in steam release chimney. It protects the burger better than a hard-sided clamshell, and it is the coolest-looking wrapper around."

He also highlighted the operational and storage advantages for restaurant staff. "There are a myriad of reasons why there is no better solution to wrap a burger," Dubois said. "Employees can wrap a burger in a split second, operators can train a novice to wrap like an expert in ten wraps, and restaurants can store 500 wrappers in a space smaller than a tissue box. There are very few times a product blends form and function perfectly. I have come across no packaging in our 13 years in business that is more innovative and useful than PleatPak. It is without equal."

Drew Nieporent, creator of Nobu restaurants and The Daily Burger, uses the packaging at his five locations inside Madison Square Garden, in New York City.

"PleatPak is our partner at Madison Square Garden. The PleatPak is an amazing product which is both attractive and practical, and Daily Burger would not be as successful without the PleatPak wrapper," Nieporent said in the release.

Lou Bastian, senior vice president of culinary for the sports and entertainment division at Levy Restaurants, which serves millions of guests annually at more than 350 venues, shared a similar endorsement.

"I consider this PleatPak a best practice for burgers. Good price and holds the product perfectly. Let's move toward implementing wherever possible asap!" Bastian said in the release.
