Tropical Smoothie Cafe celebrates robust half-year growth

Tropical Smoothie Café had a successful first half of 2017, signing 74 franchise agreements and opening 56 units. The concept recently added its 600th location and hopes to open at least 100 more by the end of the year, according to a press release

"Our 20th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how far we've come, going from a small smoothie shop in Tallahassee, Fla. to opening our 600th location this year in Joplin, MO," Mike Rotondo, CEO of Tropical Smoothie Café, said in the release. "Coupled with our strong franchise development pipeline and new menu offerings including the Watermelon Mojito Smoothie and Caribbean Jerk Wrap, we have no doubt that we'll accelerate this momentum in the second half of the year and continue reinforcing Tropical Smoothie Cafe's position as a fast casual industry leader."

BIP Franchise Accelerator, a division of venture capital firm BIP Capital, helped Tropical Smoothie Café achieve its expansion goals by investing over $250 million, according to the release. Tropical Smoothie Café also launched its system-wide 2017 fundraiser for Camp Sunshine on June 16 and raised over $400,000 this year. Camp Sunshine provides children with life threatening illnesses an authentic camp experience.
