Jamba Juice Company announced that The Organic Center has pledged to support Jamba's awareness program, Team Up for a Healthy America.
The annual program seeks to raise awareness of the nation's obesity epidemic by encouraging people to make weekly pledges to live a healthier lifestyle. The pledges can range from eating healthier foods, to incorporating exercise into daily routines.
The Organic Center, a research and education institute focused on the science of organic food and farming, will join Jamba's existing partners for the campaign, including Venus Williams, WNBA, National Parent Teacher Association and the National Gardening Association.
"We are honored to be able to support this important program," said Joan Boykin, executive director of The Organic Center. "We look forward to supplementing the campaign's existing resources with important nutrition information, including simple ways for families to affordably purchase and eat nutritious organic products to improve their health."
As part of the partnership, The Organic Center will help populate the "Team Up" website with food and nutrition tips, including information about how to incorporate antioxidants into diets, how to save when shopping for organic food and products, details on the nutritional benefits of eating organic grains and more. In addition, The Organic Center will be featured as one of Jamba's partners of the month on the Team Up for a Healthy America website and some of the weekly pledges will be connected back to health-related messages from The Organic Center.
"When we launched Team Up for a Healthy America we challenged other groups to join us in the education effort to show our nation's youth how easy it is to lead healthier and more active lives," said Julie Washington, chief brand officer, Jamba Juice Company. "The partnership of these influential and active lifestyle organizations with our 'Team Up' campaign demonstrates the commitment they have to children and their long-term health and well-being."
People seeking ways to enhance their exercise and diet routines can log onto www.myhealthpledge.com. Everyone who pledges has an opportunity to earn the title of Ambassador of Fitness and win fun prizes. Pledges include simple activities such as shooting hoops with friends, eating more organic grains, running in place, eating fruit for a snack or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. For every weekly pledge received, Jamba Juice will donate $1 toward the purchase of athletic equipment for schools in need through DonorsChoose.org.
