Fast-casual concept Big Greek Cafe is revamping its tech infrastructure, selecting digital restaurant platforms Deliverect and Thanx to unify ordering, direct delivery dispatch, third-party marketplace management and customer loyalty.
The Maryland-born chain, known for its traditional Greek comfort food, is implementing the integrated tech stack across its U.S. locations to eliminate menu fragmentation and system downtime as it expands.
Managing complex digital menus and multichannel fulfillment previously disrupted daily operations.
"Our guests know us for hospitality, and our digital ordering needs to hold up to that same standard," Niko Kontos, chief operating officer of Big Greek Cafe, said in a press release. "We were spending too much time fixing menus and working around problems instead of taking care of guests. Deliverect and Thanx give us a digital ordering platform we can rely on and a loyalty program that is part of the experience."
Under the new infrastructure, Thanx powers the guest experience — including the brand's mobile app and web ordering — while embedding loyalty engagement into the checkout process. Rather than requiring customers to sign up for a separate rewards account, the platform captures purchase history from a customer's first order, allowing the brand to run targeted campaigns instead of blanket discounts.
Behind the scenes, Deliverect's Commerce API supports the ordering backend across more than 550 point-of-sale systems. The API handles location-specific pricing, size-based modifiers, dayparting and automatic prep-time adjustments during peak hours to prevent kitchen bottlenecks.
To offer direct delivery without maintaining an in-house fleet, the chain is deploying Deliverect Dispatch, which automatically assigns first-party website and app orders to third-party couriers based on custom routing rules.
For third-party delivery channels like DoorDash and Uber Eats, the chain will use Deliverect's order aggregation tools to update pricing, limited-time offers and out-of-stock items across all platforms simultaneously from a single interface.
"The Big Greek Café has spent more than 15 years earning repeat visits the hard way, one guest at a time," Zach Goldstein, founder and CEO of Thanx, said in the release. "Our job is to make that easier to do at scale."
Founded in 2009 by twin brothers Nikos and Simos Marmaras, The Big Greek Café operates locations across Maryland and Virginia.
The joint technology rollout aims to provide a reliable foundation as the brand executes its national growth strategy.
"Our job is to ensure the technology powering their digital ordering experience is just as reliable and easy to love," Noah Hayes, vice president of sales at Deliverect, said in the release.
