Teriyaki Madness takes to the skies with Zipline Autonomous Drone Delivery

Colorado-based Teriyaki Madness is taking delivery airborne, partnering with autonomous drone service Zipline to drop its Seattle-style teriyaki bowls directly to Texas doorsteps in under five minutes.

The partnership launched Thursday at the brand's Denton, Texas, location, with plans to expand across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and into Houston later this year.

Using Zipline's zero-emission, fully electric autonomous drones, orders are retrieved once prepared and flown directly to the delivery destination. Upon arrival, the drone hovers up to 300 feet above the target area while a tethered pod lowers the order to the ground. The system is designed to deliver precisely even during high winds and inclement weather.

"Getting bowls to people faster has always been the mission, and at some point you run out of shortcuts on the ground," Jodi Boyce, chief marketing officer of Teriyaki Madness, said in a company press release. "Zipline has more flight experience than anyone out there, so we knew our bowls were in good hands — or, really, in good drones."

Founded in 2003, Teriyaki Madness operates more than 200 shops across more than 40 states, offering customizable bowls made with fresh ingredients, grilled proteins and signature sauces. The drone rollout caps a year of menu and operational investments aimed at increasing value and delivery speed for guests.

For Zipline, the partnership represents another step in expanding its U.S. residential delivery footprint. Originally launched in 2014 to transport critical medical supplies and blood to hospitals across Africa, the company expanded into U.S. home delivery in 2025 through retail and restaurant partnerships, including Walmart. To date, Zipline has logged more than 140 million autonomous commercial miles worldwide.

"Zipline brings customers the food they're craving the fastest way possible," Emily Snyder, vice president of restaurant sales at Zipline, said in the release. "With Teriyaki Madness's focus on fresh, premium ingredients, Zipline can make sure those quality meals are delivered exactly as the restaurant intended."

Customers in the service area can place orders directly through the Zipline mobile app.
