Subway introduces "fit" menu

March 7, 2007

MILFORD, Conn. — The Subway restaurant chain is introducing new "fit" menu items on March 12 in its restaurants across the country.

The new Subway Fresh Fit meals were developed to fit into the American Heart Association's approach to a healthy lifestyle. The meals, a Subway Fresh Fit adult meal and the Subway Fresh Fit for Kids meal, consist of a low-fat sandwich and "fit" sides and beverages, including sliced apples, raisins, Lay's baked potato chips and 1 percent low fat white milk.

The menu items items will be highlighted with an apple-shaped icon, allowing customers to easily identify and order the new menu options.

Subway will highlight the menu additions with a new advertising campaign and is rolling out an initiativein more than 40,000 schools through a partnership with Weekly ReaderCorp., stressing the importance of proper nutrition and exercise.

Subway tested the new menu in California last year.
