Southern restaurant taps into mobile payments

Serendipity, a fast casual restaurant that serves traditional Southern food in Birmingham, Alabama, has partnered with a local company to launch a mobile app, according to a local report.

Serendipity is located inside something in the city called the Innovation Depot, which houses companies such as technology startups. The restaurant teamed with another building tenant, Delect, which makes mobile payment apps for restaurants.

"We've taken innovative approaches to offering classic Southern comfort food," Serendipity owner Daniel Briggs told the Birmingham Business Journal. "So many startups, entrepreneurs, and techies call Innovation Depot home . . . We wanted to get creative and to be supportive of the people who work out of this building every day."
