Plant-based burger chain Slutty Vegan has made Destiny Correa a franchisee, converting its Fulton Street restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, into a franchised location. Correa served as general manager of the Brooklyn restaurant for nearly five years. Founder and CEO Pinky Cole Hayes gave her the store outright, and the company waived the initial franchise fee and the recurring marketing fee it typically charges new franchise partners.

"I walked into this store five years ago as a manager, and now I'm walking back in as the owner," Correa said in a company press release. "Most people in this industry never get told that ownership is possible for them. Pinky told me it was, and then she helped make it a reality."

Cole Hayes said Correa helped get the Brooklyn restaurant up and running and has managed it well ever since.

"She showed up every single day for five years and ran that store like it was already hers," Cole Hayes said in the release "Handing her the reins to own the store was a no-brainer and the right thing to do. She's proof that if you put in the hard work, Slutty Vegan will help you own something real."

The restaurant is now operating under Correa's ownership. The company said the conversion builds on other franchise deals it has announced as it expands nationally, including in Washington, D.C., Detroit, Ohio and Atlanta.

Cole Hayes launched Slutty Vegan in Atlanta in 2018 and grew it from a food truck into a national brand with five locations. She joined the cast of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" this year.
