Salsarita's serving up the 'World's Hottest Burrito' for a limited time this summer

June 20, 2014

For a limited time this summer, Salsarita’s customers will have a chance to try their luck with BurHEATo, which includes a teaspoon of the world’s hottest chili pepper.

Salsarita’s is teaming up with PuckerButt Pepper Company, which produces the Smokin' Ed's Carolina Reaper, the Guinness World Record holder for hottest chile pepper. According to a company press release, the pepper is 300 times hotter than the average jalapeno.

The BurHEATo will be available June 21 through Sept. 22 at all Salsarita’s restaurants nationwide.

"When we heard the world's hottest chile pepper was grown right here in the Carolinas by PuckerButt Pepper Company, we knew we needed to team up with them for a hot new menu item," said Yanira Castro, director of marketing for Salsarita's Fresh Cantina, headquartered in Charlotte, N.C. "We expect the BurHEATo will be an instant favorite for those who can handle the heat."

The BurHEATo, priced at $9.99, features freshly grilled chicken, black beans, rice, Pueblo Corn Salsa, tomatoes, cilantro and a one teaspoon of Smokin' Ed's Carolina Reaper pepper mash.

Guests who post a video of themselves eating the BurHEATo on social media and tag @Salsaritas and include #WorldsHottestBurrito will receive a free limited edition t-shirt from Salsarita's.

Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper hot sauce will also be available for purchase for $25 at all Salsarita’s locations, and PuckerButt Pepper Company’s "Shoot That’s Hot" sauce will replace Cholula hot sauce on all condiment tables.
