Pei Wei canoodles the noodle on its national day with 4 new items

October 3, 2016

Wednesday is National Noodle Day and Pei Wei is using this holiday-of-the-moment to bring customers three new Asian-inspired noodle bowls, a new hummus offering and a special Snapchat filter with which to capture all that noodle canoodling.

The brand says its new bowls give customers an opportunity to "travel by taste." In these particular dishes' case, the destination countries are Thailand, China and Japan, all highlighted with the use of fresh produce, aromatics and spices to focus on each country's culinary traditions.

The three new offerings include the China-inspired, chicken chow mein with wok-seared noodles, chicken with green beans, Swiss chard, red bell peppers, carrots, onion and scallions in a soy sauce. Then travel to Thailand for the Bangkok peanut noodles dish, featuring wok-seared chicken and noodles in Thai chili peanut sauce with ginger, red bell peppers, onion, Swiss chard, Thai basil, roasted peanuts and lime. Finally, stop in Japan for steak and shrimp chili ramen with wok-seared noodles, steak and shrimp with minced garlic, onion, carrots, scallions, cilantro and lime in a spicy-savory sauce, according to a news release.

"Our new noodle bowls are a reflection of our 'flavor with purpose' mission, using fresh ingredients that are carefully selected for both optimal flavor and nutrition," said Pei Wei Chief Marketing Officer Clay Dover, in a news release. "We believe that eating well is at the center of a well-balanced life, a sensibility we bring to each new menu item."

The noodle bowl menu also includes an updated chicken pad Thai, which now includes wok-seared chicken and rice noodles, in a Thai sweet-and-sour sauce with tofu, bean sprouts, egg, roasted peanuts, cilantro, scallions and lime. And for the vegetable lovers in the crowd, Pei Wei adds edamame hummus on Noodle Day, too, which includes green edamame, sesame tahini, mint, ginger, lemon juice and kosher salt, topped with togarashi and served with wonton chips, fresh cucumbers, red bell peppers and snap peas.

Guests can capture Noodle Day slurpings and other noodle-related canoodlings with a Snapchat geofilter, as well, available all day at all locations on Oct. 6.
