New tool helps small restaurant brands handle big turnover problem
Snagajob, the mammoth hourly worker recruiting service and website, has introduced a new tool that helps smaller restaurant business owners recruit, schedule and communicate through a single system that streamlines everything into one platform. A news release said the tool helps cut complications out of shift management and workflow oversight, while enhancing overall user experience.
The company conducted research and discovered that small business owners using manual spreadsheets spend an average of 10 hours weekly on scheduling-related duties. The new Snagajob platform allows small restaurateurs to post a job as soon as a scheduling gap appears. Then restaurant employees can communicate via team messaging to swap shifts and receive manager approval in minutes. The release said the scheduling function is free to sole proprietors seeking to staff and manage their businesses.
"Running a small business presents so many unique challenges, like staffing people you trust, finding the time to keep them engaged and managing your labor costs," Snagajob Head of Small Business Project Management Megan Overton said in the release. "Small business owners and managers need tools that will increase efficiency and save time. Our new solution gives employers a better way to actively communicate, manage and recruit for their business by identifying and resolving potential staffing challenges before they have the chance to impact the business."
This comes at a time when the service industry is dealing with the greatest turnover rates in history, making recruitment and employee engagement a perpetual activity of ownership.
"I love that when I post a job, I don't have to wait long for applications from people who are a great fit for my team," BakeHouse LLC owner Kathy Hester said from her Las Cruces, New Mexico, base. "The new scheduling feature is incredibly helpful, making it easier for everyone to stay up to date with our schedule. A lot of the students on my staff like the ability to trade shifts on their phone. I like that shifts are updated without disrupting my business. Plus, the team messaging keeps us all connected when it's most important."
