Fast-casual health brand Mahana Fresh has introduced a GLP-1-friendly menu designed for customers using weight-loss and diabetes medications. The menu rolled out April 15 across all locations.

The offerings features smaller, customizable bowls featuring additional protein, two vegetables and a house-made sauce. The protein choices include flame-grilled chicken or steak, sushi-grade ahi tuna and marinated tofu.

The menu was inspired by founder and CEO Dave Wood's experience using tirzepatide, marketed as Zepbound. Mahana Fresh has also partnered with the DRIPBaR to cross-promote weight-loss offerings.
"You have to eat a little differently when you're on a weight loss drug," Wood said in a press release. "That was part of the impetus for us creating this menu. People want meals with a higher percentage of protein, that are rich in nutrients, and most importantly, served in smaller portion sizes."
The new menu launched as GLP-1 drug use continues to rise.

A recent poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that one in eight Americans uses the medications for diabetes management or weight loss. Additional research from RAND Corp. reported that nearly 12% of Americans have used GLP-1 drugs for weight loss.

Based in Sarasota, Florida, Mahana Fresh is expanding in several states, including Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, New Jersey and North Carolina.
