Qdoba has "proactively" removed jalapenos from its menu after the FDA recalled fresh jalapeños from Sinaloa, Mexico, and distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors to wholesalers and restaurants nationwide.

"We take any report involving guest health seriously and are committed to responding appropriately based on the facts and guidance from public health authorities," the company said in an online statement. "Food safety is our highest priority. We maintain rigorous food safety standards and work closely with our suppliers, distribution partners, and restaurant teams to help ensure the safety and quality of the food we serve.

Earlier this week,Chipotle Mexican Grill pulled jalapenos from multiple stores in Minnesota after learning that the peppers may be linked to a salmonella outbreak in the state that has sickened 110 people.

The FDA and CDC said on their websites that since Chipotle and Qdoba have addressed the issue, they do not see an ongoing risk from either restaurant to consumers.
