DoorDash for Business has expanded its workplace offerings by launching tray-style catering and a Meal Manager platform designed to consolidate and streamline group food orders.
The San Francisco-based DoorDash delivery corporate arm has provided food to business and corporate clients since 2020. The services aim to simplify large orders while reducing the time and stress involved with coordinating team meals.
The tray-style catering option delivers large-format meals, along with flatware, for meetings and events. Companies may choose between shared trays or individually packaged boxed meals, according to Katie Egan, general manager of DoorDash for Business.
"We partner with restaurants that are experienced in handling large catering orders and give companies the choice of classic large-tray formats or easy-to-distribute boxed meals," Egan told Fast Casual. "We handle the coordination, delivery and setup."
The catering service is available in San Francisco and New York through the DoorDash app, with expansion planned in additional U.S. markets in the coming months.
DoorDash for Business also introduced Meal Manager, an automated system that combines multiple individual orders into a single per-restaurant delivery. The system avoids staggered meal arrivals and reduces confusion as each meal is labeled for the intended recipient.
"Ordering multiple meals to one location has been a fragmented experience, with different delivery drivers and staggered arrivals," Egan said.
"It also requires manual coordination across employees, offices and teams, which takes time."
Egan explained that the timing of the new services aligns with shifting workplace behaviors.
DoorDash for Business' 2026 Workplace Meal Trends Report found that employees are staying later in the office, relying on employer-provided meals. Large group orders grew 30% faster than standard orders year over year, with peaks during key planning months such as March, September and December.
Additionally, coordinating meals across schedules, dietary preferences and team sizes remains a challenge for administrative staff, Egan said. Meal Manager and catering services are being offered to simplify ordering for groups ranging from small teams to large-scale events.
"As more companies accelerate their return-to-office plans, the need for flexible, scalable meal solutions that work across locations has never been more critical," she said.
