Atlanta, GA - April 15th, 2026 – Big Dave's Cheesesteaks has secured its entry into the Tampa market, marking a significant step forward in the brand's national expansion strategy and signaling early momentum under Chief Operating Officer Shawna Snyder.
The Tampa market will be led by Black Apron Hospitality Group, which will serve as the brand's franchise operating group in the region. The move reflects a focused approach to growth, aligning with experienced operators who bring the structure and discipline needed to scale effectively.
Since stepping into the COO role, Shawna has quickly translated strategy into action; prioritizing infrastructure, strengthening operator alignment, and accelerating market development. The Tampa deal stands as an early example of her leadership already delivering measurable progress for the brand.
"Shawna came in with a clear vision for how we grow, and Tampa is proof of that execution," said Founder & CEO Derrick Hayes. "We're building this brand with intention, and that means moving quickly while staying operationally sound."
"Growth is about alignment and execution," Shawna added. "Tampa represents the type of market and operator group that allows us to scale the right way, while protecting the guest experience."
Founded by entrepreneurs Mohsin Hussain and Raheel Razzaq, Black Apron Hospitality Group is a management and consulting platform focused on scaling food and beverage concepts across multiple dining segments. Known for its systems-driven approach and operational rigor, the group selectively partners with brands positioned for long-term, sustainable growth.
"We don't build for hype, we build for longevity. Tampa doesn't need more concepts, it needs better ones, and we're intentional about partnering with brands that align with the level of quality and standards we believe in. Big Dave's brings a rare combination of identity and momentum, backed by a level of authenticity and consumer connection that can't be manufactured. We believe we're introducing something to Tampa that will stand the test of time and grow with the city."
The Tampa expansion builds on Big Dave's continued investment in national infrastructure, including recent partnerships with Amoroso's Baking Company and Philly's Best Steak Company, ensuring consistency and scalability across all locations.
With strong leadership, aligned operators, and a disciplined growth strategy in place, Big Dave's Cheesesteaks continues to gain momentum as it expands into new markets nationwide.
