In celebration of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, Uncle Maddio's Atlanta-area restaurants donated 15 percent of sales from Sept. 7 and $1 from each pink wristband sold to local breast cancer programs in Georgia.
The total amount of money donated exceeded $4,000.
The restaurant partnered with It's The Journey Inc., producers of the Atlanta 2-Day, to support the campaign. Sales from the restaurants' pizza, Panini, salads and beverages were donated directly to Atlanta 2-Day walk teams local to each restaurant. Atlanta Uncle Maddio's employees also participated in the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer held on Oct. 11-12.
"Atlanta is Uncle Maddio's home base and we have strong connections to the local communities across the state," CEO and Founder Matt Andrew said in a news release. "Many of us in the Uncle Maddio's family have been directly affected by breast cancer and we are honored to be a part of the fight to end the disease and support breast cancer programs in Georgia."
Atlanta Uncle Maddio's restaurants continue to support October Breast Cancer Awareness Month and are raising additional money to be donated to Georgia cancer programs. Guests can participate by purchasing pink Uncle Maddio's bracelets at participating locations all month.
