Tossed has named Sarah Wilson of Boston as the winner of its Fourth Annual National Salad Contest.
Wilson's winning entry, Caprese Chicken Salad, will be offered as a featured menu item in Tossed locations across the country during the month of July.
"Sarah Wilson's entry wowed all of us here at Tossed. The blend of ingredients perfectly captures the unique appeal of Italy, Greece and the whole Mediterranean rim," said Eric Clark, Tossed Franchise Corporation's chief operating officer. "We can't think of a more appropriate way to celebrate summer than to put Sarah's Caprese Chicken Salad in our stores nationwide throughout July."
Caprese Chicken Salad features a mix of blackened chicken, chopped tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and avocado on a bed of romaine hearts, topped with lemon basil vinaigrette dressing. As a light, zesty and regionally-inspired salad, Caprese Chicken Salad evokes the lifestyle of the island of Capri, one of the Mediterranean's most famous resort locales.
Since 2008, the contest has promoted the creativity of Tossed customers. It is held each May, giving patrons the opportunity to showcase their ideas for exceptional salads to a nationwide audience. Entries are judged by Tossed executives on taste, creativity and visual appeal.
Clark said that Tossed's Boston restaurant received the most entries of any location by a significant margin. As the 2011 winner, Wilson will receive one free Tossed gourmet salad per week for an entire year.
