Tossed announces winner of second annual salad contest

July 8, 2009

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Tossed has announced the winner of its second annual salad recipe contest, created in celebration ofNational Salad Month this past May.

Tossed invited its customers nationwide to concoct the salad of their dreams and submit their original, unpublished recipes for a chance to have their culinary creations featured on Tossed menus across the country for the entire month of July.

The winning salad was created by Ashley Moore of Antioch, Tenn.

"We selected Ashley as the winner because her salad, Sugar ‘n Spice, has great flavor dynamics. The sweetness of the apples and cranberries play off the spice of the blackened chicken in a unique and delicious way. The salad not only tastes great but it is visually appealing as well," said Eric Clark, Tossed's chief operating officer.

Moore's salad features chopped romaine lettuce, roasted peppers, apples, dried cranberries, croutons and blackened chicken with citrus chipotle dressing, and is available for $6.95.

In addition to having her salad featured at Tossed restaurants across the country for the month of July, Moore also received a $100 Tossed gift card and a gift basket to celebrate her victory.

Tossed also awarded nine regional winners of the contest with 10 free salads each from their local Tossed restaurant.
