April 10, 2026 | Teriyaki Madness ups its protein game with Two-By-Two Bowl
Denver-based Teriyaki Madness has boosted the protein presence on its menu by adding the Two-By-Two Bowl, a limited-time offering that builds on the fast-casual brand's permanent Two Protein Bowl. Guests may choose two proteins from the menu, and the Two-By-Two Bowl doubles those portions to 1 pound and serves them with stir-fry vegetables, rice or noodles and sauces.
The item was developed after a survey of 700 customers who frequently ordered the Two Protein Bowl. After learning that diners valued the meal's variety and value, TMAD expanded the concept by doubling its chicken and steak offerings.
The LTO reflects a broader fast-casual shift toward "functional nutrition."The IFIC 2025 Food & Health Survey reported that 71% of Americans are trying to consume more protein for muscle maintenance and satiety. As a result, fast-casual brands are adjusting their menus to meet demand.
Along with TMAD, restaurants including &pizza and sister brand Tijuana Flats,Shake Shack, Sweetgreenand WOWorkshave announced protein-forward menus. Beverage chains joined the trend, with Smoothie King, Starbucks and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf adding protein-enhanced drinks. Nekter is also offering a "Protein Cleanse," a program that includes two high-protein vanilla shakes, Koia Elite Protein and cold-pressed juices.
