Tablets improve table turns by 30 percent for Genghis Grill

Guests can browse full menus with photos, place orders, pay their bill and play a wide variety of games.

December 2, 2014

Ghengis Grill has improved its lunchtime table turns by more than 30 percent since the rollout of tablets that enable guests to order and pay at the table.

The results are based on data generated across 18 stores over an 8-week period of time. The Presto by E la Carte tablets are currently installed at 76 Genghis Grill locations across 23 states.

E la Carte's performance data indicates that when given the opportunity, more than one third of all guests will pay via the Presto tablet rather than wait for a server. In addition to improved table turns, E la Carte performance data shows that servers benefit from a 16-percent increase in tips from guests utilizing the Presto platform.

"Our guests love the ability to order and pay directly through the Presto tablet," said Marcin Kedzierski, IT director of Genghis Grill, in a press release from E la Carte. "Because they are handling these tasks via the tablet, our servers are able to focus on higher-value added activities and can spend more time directly interacting with our customers. The result is an enhanced dining experience for our guests and higher sales in our stores during the busiest time of day."

The Presto tablet is NFC-enabled and can be adapted to incorporate any of the current payment systems as well as QR-code-based or mobile payment technologies.

Guests using the Presto tablet can browse full menus with photos, place orders, pay their bill and play a wide variety of games. They can also split checks and redeem gift cards without waiting for assistance from the server.
