Starbucks will roll out mobile order and pay across the US in 2015, according to a statement from the coffee giant.
The roll out will begin in Portland, Oregon, before the end of the year, and launch throughout the US in 2015.
The mobile order and pay initiative and others were announced to more than 2,000 district managers at the company's recent Starbucks Leadership Experience conference in Seattle. Among the initiatives:
- Customers who swipe their Starbucks Card or use the Starbucks app to pay for their purchase from Dec. 2 through Dec. 25 will be automatically entered to win "Starbucks for Life." Ten winners in the US will receive one free item every day for 30 years.
“What could be bigger this holiday than winning Starbucks for Life? This is the first time we have ever offered customers something of this magnitude and what better way than to anchor it with our renowned Starbucks Card program? This giveaway is poised to bring great excitement and fun to our customers during this special time of the year,” said Sharon Rothstein, Starbucks executive vice president and global chief marketing officer, in a company press release.
- Starbucks will also roll out Chestnut Praline Latte, its first new holiday beverage in five years.
- The Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room will open Dec. 5. The roastery will consolidate small-batch roasting and allow the company to expand their Starbucks Reserve coffee line to 1,500 locations globally, including 100 stores designed to highlight rare coffees.
