Starbucks is expanding its Starbucks Delivers service in China, making it available to more than 1,100 stores in 17 cities.
The expansion comes less than two months after the brand introduced the service in partnership with Alibaba Group’s Ele.Me, according to a press release. It plans to deploy the service to more than 2,000 stores, across 30 cities, by year's end.
In addition, Starbucks is piloting its first 'Star Kitchens' in two supermarkets in China, one in Shanghai and one in Hangzhou.
"We set out to earn our right to do coffee delivery the right way in China by leading and upleveling the standards for the entire coffee industry, with no compromise on the Starbucks quality at any step," said Belinda Wong, CEO, Starbucks China, in the release.
Starbucks, according to the release, is the first retail brand to establish dedicated kitchens designed to Starbucks’ standards to handcraft consistent quality coffee and tea beverages.
