Starbucks and Delta Air Lines are relaunching a loyalty benefit that lets customers earn frequent flyer miles on their coffee purchases.
Beginning Aug. 5, members who link their Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles accounts will earn one mile for every dollar spent at participating Starbucks locations, the companies said. The perk revives a feature of the loyalty partnership the two companies launched in 2022.
To qualify, linked members must have taken a Delta flight within the previous 12 months. The companies said members who haven't flown recently will get a one-time grace period, allowing them to earn miles through Oct. 5 regardless of their flight history.
Linked members may also continue earning double Starbucks Rewards stars on days they have a scheduled Delta flight, a benefit that has remained in place since the partnership began. Members with linked accounts additionally have access to exclusive events and limited-time offers, according to the companies.
Customers who aren't yet enrolled can sign up for Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles separately, then link the accounts at deltastarbucks.com to begin earning miles when the program starts next month.
Miles earned through the program exclude taxes, gratuities, gift card purchases and alcoholic beverages, the companies said. Newly linked members are eligible to earn miles for their first 12 months and must complete a qualifying Delta flight to continue earning after that period.
