Ever found yourself hungry at a sporting event, run to the concession and then, due to long lines, jog back to your seat so you don't miss alot of action? You're not alone.
Long wait lines are a prime reason why 40 percent of sports fans abandoned concession lines in the past 12 months, according to a release.
Trying to beat the line and strategically hit the concession stand at the perfect time, without missing the most important play of the game, is becoming a sport of its own. And, according to a new research report polling sports fans worldwide, the result is that fans are not getting a great customer experience.
The study, from Oracle Hospitality and Turnkey Intelligence, survyed 3,500 sports fans in Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States.
The report reveals 68 percent of U.S. fans and 60 percent of international fans would "probably" or "definitely" use in-seat ordering. Americans, on average, are willing to spend an additional $20 on food and beverages if wait times were shorter, and 27 percent of U.S. fans are tied to a loyalty program offered by a team or stadium.
