Thousands of limited-service restaurants will have access next year to new technology thanks to ShopKeep's acquisition this week of online ordering software, ChowBOT, according to a news release. ShopKeep's current 8,500-location customer base includes full-service restaurants and bars, in addition to QSR and fast casual brands.
ChowBOT’s features integrate into ShopKeep’s POS system, allowing merchants to sync their POS menus to their individual online order sites, where customers select dishes, pay and designate delivery or a pick-up site. The software will connect to ShopKeep’s cloud-based platform to ensure submission to the locations concerned and allow restaurateurs to use third-party on-demand delivery services like UberRUSH or Postmates.
"It can be especially challenging for restaurants … to offer their customers online order and delivery options," ShopKeep CEO Michael DeSimone said in a news release. "They are often stuck choosing between paying steep costs for the capability, relinquishing control of the customer experience or not having an online presence at all. The integration of ChowBOT to our platform allows them to easily offer these features, cutting down the barriers to entry by helping them effectively and successfully bridge their online presence with the physical experience they provide customers."
The combined service should begin working for customers in 2018, the company said.
