Saladworks and Sodexo Inc. are partnering to bring healthy, fast casual food to U.S. colleges and universities.
Sodexo's campus dining locations reflect a consumer-centric approach that embraces healthy and balanced choices and culinary innovation, according to a press release.
Last year, Sodexo, through a partnership with the Humane Society of the United States and the World Resource Institute-Better Buying Lab, launched new plant-based menus with over 200 recipes.
"Our college and university customers are always looking for quick, healthy and high-quality meals. Saladworks is a perfect complement to Sodexo's offerings and we look forward to rolling them out on campuses next school year," said Don Wood, external partnerships, Sodexo, in the release
The release cited a American College Health Association study that found that 63 percent of college students are not eating the recommended fruits and vegetables each day.
"We are excited to continue bringing fresh, healthy options to college students across America. We have seen Generation Z and millennials alike embrace our create-your-own and specialty salad options," said Saladworks CEO Patrick Sugrue in the release. "We are focused on offering guests with all types of dietary needs and nutritional preferences an option that is right for them. We know this partnership will be fruitful, and we are looking forward to continuing to open locations on college campuses in the coming years."
Saladworks opened in 1986 and launched its first franchise location in 2001. Today, there are nearly 100 different locations in 13 states and two countries.
