Ruby Tuesday to extend Lime Fresh restaurant openings

Ruby Tuesday Inc. has reported that it plans to open six to eight new Lime Fresh Mexican Grill restaurants in the coming year. The announcement was made during Ruby Tuesday's release of its second fiscal quarter results for the period ending Nov. 29, 2011.

In the company's second fiscal quarter, it opened its first Lime Fresh inline location in Huntsville, Ala.

Overall, however, Ruby Tuesday restaurants saw a same-store sales decrease of 4.2 percent at company-owned restaurants. The company also reported a net loss of $2 million.

Total revenue increased 5.9 percent for the quarter, primarily due to the fiscal 2011 franchise partnership acquisitions.

The company also did not open any new Ruby Tuesday restaurants, permanently closed one restaurant, and temporarily closed three restaurants in anticipation of conversion to other concepts.
