PizzaRev will open its 29th and newest store on Dec. 17 in Glendale, California. To mark the grand opening of its Glendale location, it will host a "Pizzas for a Purpose” fundraising event to support Ascencia, a Glendale-based organization dedicated to raising people out of homelessness, a company press release stated.
"We see homelessness every day in our communities and the best way for us to address the problem is to help fund organizations like Ascencia that have the housing and programs in place that directly benefit the homeless population,” said Nicholas Eckerman, PizzaRev co-founder, president and COO. "We are passionate supporters of the organizations that positively impact the communities we serve and we are dedicated to supporting the Ascencia mission.”
According to a recent report from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department, Los Angeles city and county have the most chronically homeless people in the country and that population is growing, the release stated. Chronically homeless individuals are defined as those who have either been continuously homeless for a year or more or have experienced at least four episodes of homelessness in the last three years.
"Ascencia is thrilled to partner with PizzaRev and support its Glendale Grand Opening," said Natalie Profant Komuro, Ascencia executive director. "It says a great deal about their values as a company as they join us in making Glendale a healthier and stronger community by helping our homeless neighbors."
