Pie Five launching new stores in FL, MD

Pie Five Pizza will open two new locations, one in Florida and another in Maryland.

Pie Five Pizza will open two new locations within the next four day. The first will open Friday, Nov. 6 in Ormond Beach, Florida, at 1209 W. Granada Blvd. The second will debut Nov. 9 in Baltimore, Maryland at 9525 Baltimore National Pike, according to a company press release.

The Ormond Beach unit will be the fourth location in Florida opened by franchisee Gale Lemerand, who introduced Pie Five to central Florida.

"Pie Five has really taken off in the central Florida area and I'm very excited to bring our handcrafted pies to my hometown of Ormond Beach," said Lemerand. "When I was first introduced to Pie Five's concept, I knew central Florida would embrace this new trend that gives guests make-it-your-way, fresh ingredient options, offered at one low price and served fast — it's ideal for Ormond Beach locals!"

Lemerand plans to open up to 10 locations in the Orlando, Melbourne, Daytona Beach and Gainesville communities, the release stated.

Pie Five is donating 75 percent of pre-opening event proceeds to the local YMCA. Pie Five will present a check to the YMCA at the ribbon cutting-ceremony being held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with members of the local chamber of commerce in attendance.

The new Pie Five in Baltimore will give free pizzas at pre-opening events on Nov. 7 and 8 to guests who sign up online.

"Everyone loves pizza, but at Pie Five we help create a pizza experience," said Jeff Mengel, Pie Five Pizza franchise partner. "Pie Five's concept is unique and we're passionate about changing the way that people enjoy their pie with fresh, all natural ingredients, signature flavors in a handcrafted personal crust."

Mengel was born and raised in the Baltimore area and is an experienced franchise owner. He and his partners currently operate two additional Pie Five locations in Owings Mills and Glen Burnie, the release stated.

Pie Five is donating 50 percent of proceeds from pre-opening events to The Living Legacy Foundation, whose mission is to inspire Marylanders to save lives through organ and tissue donation, while honoring the legacy of donors. The cause is personal to Mengel whose father-in-law was both a recipient and a donor.

Dallas-based Pie Five Pizza Co. is a subsidiary of RAVE Restaurant Group, which owns, franchises and supplies more than 300 Pie Five and Pizza Inn restaurants operating domestically and internationally.
