Panera's kids menu will be free from artificial flavors, preservatives, sweeteners and colors from artificial sources starting September 7.
The company is challenging other food manufacturers to follow its lead, according to a release.
"We believe our cafes should offer the same choices and transparency to children as we do adults," said Sara Burnett, director of wellness and food policy at Panera.
The company has launched a social media campaign, "Kids shouldn't have to imagine what's in their food."
