During the recent NBA finals, Danny Meisenheimer, COO of Pollo Tropical in Miami, and Todd Coerver, COO of Taco Cabana in San Antonio, wagered that the brand with the winning hometown team would host the COO of the losing city for a work shift.
The Heat lost to the Spurs, so Meisenheimer will make good on his bet today. He'll don a Spurs superfan costume designed by Taco Cabana employees and work a shift bussing tables and taking orders at Taco Cabana's busiest location.
Coerver will be on hand to personally supervise Meisenheimer at the Taco Cabana on Interstate 10 at De Zavala Road.
“I’ve waited for this day for over a year, and we’ve planned something very special for Mr. Meisenheimer,” said Coerver, who lost the finals bet in 2013 and was forced to support the Heat while working at a popular Pollo Tropical in Miami. “This is about redemption for me personally and for our NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs.”
In celebration of the Spurs championship win, Taco Cabana will also donate $1,000 to Silver & Black Give Back, a charity organization located in San Antonio that works to engage local youth.
Both restaurant brands are owned by Addison, Texas-based Fiesta Restaurant Group Inc.
UPDATE: Looks like Meisenheimer made good.
