Moe's Southwest Grill tests trans-fat-free menu

January 7, 2007

ATLANTA — Moe's Southwest Grill announced it will test a zero-grams-trans-fat-per-serving menu in 50 locations throughout the country, looking to extend the menu throughout the 334 Moe's Southwest Grill locations by summer.

According to a news release, the Atlanta-based fast-casual concept will begin testing a zero-grams-trans-fat corn, soy and canola oil to cook their signature complimentary tortilla chips as well as new formulations without partially hydrogenated oils for some marinades and dessert items.

"When we started Moe's we made the commitment to fresh, high-quality food by staying away from products with MSG and never using freezers, relying on the freshest ingredients possible," said Matt Andrew, senior vice president and brand leader for Moe's Southwest Grill. "Today, eliminating trans-fats is critical so our customers know they can pick any item on our menu and feel good about their choice."
