ATLANTA — Moe's Southwest Grill, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Raving Brands Inc., is introducing grilled tilapia at the burrito chain's 334 nation-wide locations.
The new offering is part of a move by Moe's to introduce healthier menu items. The company also is testing a trans-fat-free menu at 50 Moe's locations and hopes to eliminate trans fat from its products by the summer, company officials said.
Tilapia is the latest seafood item making waves in the restaurant world.
According to the American Tilapia Association, the fish is the fastest growing aquaculture crop in the United States, and the fifth most popular seafood consumed in the U.S.
