Mama Fu's to be honored for menu innovation

March 19, 2012

Mama Fu’s Asian House will be honored for its innovative menu offerings during the 15th Annual MenuMasters Awards Celebration in Chicago on May 5, 2012.

Mama Fu’s Banh Mi Vietnamese Street Sandwich and the company’s flex-casual service model also will be recognized with the Menu Trendsetter award.

“Throughout the past four years, we have continued to evolve Mama Fu’s to put us in an extremely favorable position to dominate the Asian segment of the restaurant industry,” said company president and CEO Randy Murphy, who will share the stage in Chicago with other award honorees Buffalo Wild Wings, Quaker Steak & Lube, Sonic Corp., The Cheesecake Factory and Wendy’s. “This coveted award only confirms that we’re well on our way.”

Mama Fu’s developed its Bánh Mi Vietnamese Street Sandwich in just 90 days, from idea to execution, including consumer testing, eventually launching it last August to rousing reviews. Offered with beef, chicken or shrimp, Bánh Mi is made with wok seared protein, and comes with fresh vegetables and a spicy sauce. It is served on a crispy baguette.

MenuMasters Awards are produced by Nation’s Restaurant News and sponsored by Ventura Foods. Winners are selected by the magazine’s editorial board, and honor outstanding menu development and excellence in foodservice research and development.
