Gong cha signs 50-unit Texas development deal

Gong cha Americas has signed an exclusive area development agreement with franchise operator Bakers Acres & Cattle Company to open 50 locations across Texas. The move represents the Boston-based bubble tea brand's largest direct franchising deal to date.

The agreement follows Gong cha's recent acquisition of master franchise rights for 170 U.S. locations in 13 states.

Gong cha launched its direct franchising program in the U.S. about two years ago and has since signed development agreements in Texas, California, Massachusetts, Arizona, Wisconsin, Puerto Rico and other markets.

Founded in Taiwan, Gong cha operates nearly 2,200 locations in 33 countries, including about 240 stores in the U.S.
