FREEBIRDS and Operation Homefront to help families in need

November 10, 2011

FREEBIRDS World Burrito has announced a partnership with Operation Homefront's Texas and Southern California chapters to support military families this holiday season through their Adopt A Family program.  A total of 56 restaurants in Texas and California will participate by collecting gifts Nov. 14 through Dec. 16, 2011. The gifts will be delivered during the holiday season to each adopted family.

Operation Homefront will assign one military family per FREEBIRDS restaurant based on an application process. FREEBIRDS crews collect gifts based on their family's wants and needs, which range from basics such as groceries, diapers and food, to items such as bicycles, guitars, iPhones and Xbox 360s.

"Each year, we invite our guests and the community to join us in a celebration of giving and we are always overwhelmed with gratitude by the outpouring of support," said World Works director Annette Beavers. "Last year we enabled a young cancer patient, Devin, to achieve her dream of experiencing New York's fashion world first hand with a visit to the Marchesa design studio."

On Dec. 17 and18, 2011, the families will be invited to come to the restaurant to receive their holiday gifts and sample some FREEBIRDS food and drink. Many restaurants provide a Christmas tree, and families choose whether to open the gifts then or take them home for the holiday.
