First Green Beans Worldcafé to open in U.S.

February 27, 2007

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Green Beans Coffee is opening its first domestic location March 5 in Fairfield, Calif., near Travis Air Force Base.

Green Beans first made a name for itself providing coffee for U.S. troops stationed in war zones across the globe. They have more than 55 frontline locations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Africa and other overseas locales.

"Because of the nature of where we operate, we've forged strong bonds with our customers over the years. We are excited about building similar relationships stateside with new friends over a good cup of coffee," said Jason Araghi, president of Green Beans Coffee.

According to a news release, the Larkspur, Calif.-based Green Beans plans to open approximately 10 new stores nationwide in 2007. The new locations will open near military bases.

In addition to coffee, Green Beans Worldcafe will sell scones, smoothies and cookies, all made from organic or natural ingredients. Their first location also was built using sustainable building products and recycled materials.

Jason and Jon Araghi founded Green Beans Coffee in 1996. Its first store, Art Nouveau Café, was located in Saudi Arabia.
