The Essential Baking Company (EBC) made a major shift in its transportation fleet. The EBC implemented new B99 biodiesel delivery trucks. The bakery sold its fossil-fueled trucks in favor of leasing 13 biodiesel-powered trucks.
Peter Miller, president and chief executive officer of the 200-employee EBC, said that aside from the rising costs of traditional fossil fuels, switching to a biodiesel delivery fleet stemmed primarily from the company's socially responsible and ecologically friendly philosophies. Simply put, "going biodiesel" was better aligned with the brand's core values.
