Elevation Burger highlights gluten-free menu options

April 23, 2013

To show its comittment to serving gluten-free menu options, Elevation Burger is now participating in the international Chef to Plate Gluten-Free Awareness Campaign. Sponsored by the GlutenIntolerance Group of North America, the campaign honors National Celiac Awareness Month (May).

"One of the founding tenets of Elevation Burger is to offer our guests great-tasting and healthy menu options, and that includes those with gluten sensitivities," said founder and CEO Hans Hess. "It is a source of tremendous pride for us knowing that those suffering from gluten intolerance can come in to Elevation Burger, order a burger with organic bacon, fries and a soft drink and enjoy their meal care free."

Gluten-free menu items at Elevation include lettuce-wrapped burgers, which can be topped with yellow mustard, fresh fries cooked in olive oil, and a wide range of soft drinks, including Wild Bill's Root Beer and Cinnamon Orange Iced Tea.

Now in its fourth year, the grass-roots Chef to Plate campaign is designed to help spread awareness of gluten sensitivities to people throughout the world by partnering with restaurants that offer gluten-free menu options. According to GIG, more than 3 million Americans suffer from celiac disease, and non-celiac gluten sensitivity may affect as many as 7 percent of the world's population. Throughout the month of May, Elevation Burger franchises around the country will display posters and counter tents featuring educational materials detailing facts and statistics about gluten sensitivities. Last year, more than 1,400 restaurants in four countries participated in the campaign.
