January 29, 2009
COSTA MESA, Calif. — From Jan. 29 through the middle of May, El Pollo Loco will offer Chicken Carnitas, prepared using traditional methods with citrus and spices, starting at $1.79.
Guests can order the chicken carnitas as a taco, bowl or burrito and can personalize their entrees with any combination of salsas from El Pollo Loco's complimentary salsa bar.
The taco combines El Pollo Loco's chicken carnitas with chopped onion and cilantro piled in warm corn tortillas, while the bowl features chicken carnitas served with onion, cilantro and Pico de Gallo salsa atop Spanish rice and pinto beans.
The burrito combines El Pollo Loco's chicken carnitas with guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo salsa in a warm flour tortilla, and the chicken carnitas plate features a generous portion of chicken carnitas accompanied by Spanish rice, pinto beans, warm tortillas and freshly prepared salsa.
El Pollo Loco will communicate its limited-time chicken carnitas entrees to consumers through a multimedia campaign. General market and Spanish-language television spots will appear in select West Coast markets beginning Feb. 2. Additionally, a wide mix of point-of-purchase vehicles will be used, including window clings, translites, and other in-restaurant and drive-thru communication.
